Can You Really Find Candidates on Twitter?

Posted by Gretchen Benes on Thursday, March 12th, 2009

I came across this fantastic article called “How to Hire Talent Using Social Media Sites“.  It outlines the nuts and bolts of using sites such as Twitter and Facebook to “advertise” and direct candidates to your job postings.

It includes specifics such as:

  • Posting a job
  • Narrowing down the players
  • Interviews
  • Follow-up

One of the things I have found fascinating while using social media tools is understanding the etiquette that governs each site.  The etiquette is a critical part of the process – so important that The Today Show did a piece on it this morning (I reference The Today Show and NPR quite a bit – the joys of working from home).   The article provides good guidelines (#5) for following these rules.  This is one of the reasons I love this forum – in order to be successful you have to have manners.
